PSO sets Jerry Garcia tribute

The Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration will have its local debut with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra on June 18 at Heinz Hall.

Tickets go on sale March 11 for symphony subscribers and March 25 for the general public.

The tribute to the Grateful Dead's iconic leader, conducted by Fawzi Haimor, will feature singer and guitarist Warren Haynes performing Garcia's compositions and the standards that were part of Grateful Dead shows.

Haynes was a long-time guitarist with the Allman Brothers Band, a founding member of Gov't Mule, and often performed with members of the Grateful Dead after Garcia's death in 1995.

The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. June 18 at Heinz Hall, Downtown. Tickets start at $30; a top price has not been set. Details: 412-392-4900 or

TLC packs up 'Wear'

Remember when makeover shows were the hot, new thing in reality TV, and TLC's "What Not to Wear" was at the head of the class?

TLC announced this week that it will close out its longest- running prime-time show at the end of its coming season, which is set to premiere on Fridays in July.

TLC general manager Amy Winter said that she thought it was "the right time" to end the show.

"This show changed me and the trajectory of my life," said star Stacy London, who's done more than 325 makeovers over the course of the show's run. Her co-host, Clinton Kelly, joined her in its second season, after first-season co-host Wayne Scot Lukas was not brought back.

Lifetime brings back 'Deva'
