Artistic Expression

CHARLESTON, SC.... Ella Walton Richardson Gallery presents a show entitled Poetry of an Artist, featuring new work by Lynn Gertenbach April 6-28. Gertenbach's impressionistic style captures the beauty and serenity of her subjects, which range from meadows to figures to breathtaking coastlines. Her oil paintings create a dreamy and romantic mood that attracts the viewer's eye. The California-based artist has traveled extensively to Mongolia, Japan, China, and Peru to paint and exhibit her works. Her artistic accomplishments include second prize in the 2006 Carmel Art Festival and a Lifetime Achievement award from the Colorado Institute of Art. Gertenbach's works are on display throughout the month, with an opening reception on Friday, April 6, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Painter's Delight

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC.... Morris & Whiteside Galleries presents a two-person show featuring new paintings by Colorado-based artists Kim English and Michelle Torrez on April 20. English paints on location, focusing on street and market scenes, fishing boats, and interiors. His oils show the harmony that exists between light and shadow. Likewise, Torrez's use of vibrant colors commands the viewer's attention. "The flashes of color come through me to represent the culture, the environment, the personality of that person and surroundings," Torrez says. Their works are on display throughout the month.
