Asa Honors Two Aging Spirits

The Forum on Religion, Spirituality and Aging (FORSA) of the American Society on Aging (ASA) announced its inaugural Religion, Spirituality and Aging Awards at AS A's national conference in Chicago in March. Sharing honors were Patrick Cullinane, ASA director of special projects, and James W. Ellor, director of the Center for Gerontological Studies at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

Ellor, who has been involved with FORSA from its inception in 1988, is an associate professor in the School of Social Work at Baylor. An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church, USA, he is on the pastoral staff of First Presbyterian Church of Waco. Previously, Ellor was professor of gerontology and director of the Center for Positive Aging at National-Louis University, Wheaton, Ill., for 21 years.

Active in publishing, Ellor edits the Journal of Religion, Spirituality and Aging and is editor in chief of Pastoral Press at the Haworth Press, Binghamton, N.Y. Among his recent books for Haworth, he coauthored Faith-Based Initiafives and'Aging Services (2004) and Aging, Spirituality and Pastoral Care: A Multinational Perspective (2002). …
