University of Georgia Student, Iowa State Club Receive Awards

Lori Curies, AAFCS summer intern and recent graduate of the University of Georgia (UGA) in family and consumer sciences education, has been named Student of the Year by the AAFCS Student Unit.

During Lori's time at UGA, she served as the president of the AAFCS Student Unit, family and consumer sciences ambassador, volunteer for the Wesley Foundation Leadership, and was a member of the Delta Epsilon Iota Honor Society. Her honors and awards include UGA dean's list, Who's Who Among American Colleges and Universities, and presidential scholar.

At AAFCS, Lori has already been a huge asset to the association and staff. Iowa State University Community Service Award

Jaime Christensen and the rest of ISU's family and consumer sciences club have reason to celebrate, again! Their chapter received the AAFCS Student Unit Community Service Award for the fifth consecutive year.

The club participated in three main service projects: in the fall, they hosted a Bead Party for Beads of Life, an organization that works to give an income to women in Africa who are living in poverty. …
