Excerpt

This book has grown out of the various courses on ‘learning to learn’ which I have run over the years, and my main debt is to those people who came on them, from whom I learned a great deal. I would also like to thank the various teachers, lecturers, trainers, students and trainees in this region who worked through earlier drafts and whose comments were invaluable in helping me to produce this final version. Further comments from readers are always welcome.

It is impossible to write a book of this kind that will meet every individual interest and need. However, I hope that the framework set out here will help people to reflect on their own learning, to begin a conversation with themselves about it, and to share their insights with others.
