Duncan J. McKay was appointed as the Document Management Team Lead with ConocoPhillips (UK) Ltd. in Aberdeen, in September 2002, following the merger of Conoco Inc. and Phillips Petroleum Co. His group provides services to the Upstream Organisation of ConocoPhillips ranging from traditional library services to records management.

Having spent the first two years of his career in the Scottish academic sector, Duncan then spent twelve years within the oil exploration and production sector of the British National Oil Corporation and its successors, Britoil plc and British Petroleum plc, in Glasgow. Another short period in academe, as the Radzinowicz Librarian of Criminology at Cambridge, preceded a return to the oil industry in 1991 when he joined Amerada Hess Ltd. After seven years with ahl, in a number of roles, he joined Saga Petroleum (UK) Ltd. as Information Centre Manager. Following the sale of Saga Petroleum in 2000 he joined Conoco (UK) as an Information Services Specialist within the Finding (Exploration) Geodata Management Group.

He has always had interests in the application of financial management techniques within the Library and Information business and has lectured on the topic to a number of academic institutions and professional meetings.
