This document presents a study on the Jamaican tourism attraction subsector and came about as a result of an in-depth four-month examination and evaluation of various aspects of the local industry. The main aim is to provide a comprehensive report which will afford industry players with tangible base data for planning, budgetary and marketing considerations.This document may be used as a reference point and a working tool for further enhancement and development of the industry, particularly the attraction subsector, ensuring readiness for the next millennium.The study comprises information generated from:

• Meeting with key industry players such as members of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA), attraction owners and government workers involved in tourism.

• Surveys undertaken with 31 attraction owners.

• Examination of financing and financial elements of the industry

• Dialogue with bankers (development, commercial, investment, merchant and venture fund institutions)

• Examination and establishment of the role of the government in attractions.
