Excerpt

Construction professionals all over the world are facing tremendous, everincreasing challenges, both technical and managerial. They have to keep abreast with the latest techniques in both technology and management. Management techniques can be qualitative or quantitative. In the experience of the authors of this book, quantitative management techniques, unlike qualitative management, are seldom known to and rarely used by people in the construction industry for their decision making processes. Also, there are very few books written on the topic of quantitative management techniques for construction professionals. For these reasons, the authors believe this volume will be of value to people working in the field of construction.

This volume is intended to be a text book as well as a reference book on quantitative techniques for decision making in construction. The book is written to serve university undergraduates of construction-related programmes and postgraduate students undertaking construction management bridging courses. It teaches readers how to apply a number of quantitative techniques to assist their decision making processes when they are facing day-to-day problems at construction sites or in their offices.
