Excerpt

This book is an introduction to “true cooperation.” True cooperation is a powerful new design for organizing human societies that provides the basis for a paradigm shift into a new, superior civilization. It can be adopted easily by smaller organizations, providing immediate benefits including relief from many of our current social stressors and problems. Part 1 presents the key elements of true cooperation and examines the outmoded competitive and individualistic cultural paradigms we must escape. Cooperation is the new paradigm our current, rapid-paced social evolution is pushing us toward.

Unfortunately, true cooperation is currently a stranger in America. There is nothing like it in our American culture. The cultural patterns and social behaviors we now label “cooperation” are many things but none are true cooperation. Bits and pieces of true cooperation are emerging here and there in response to the massive technology driven social transformation churning around us. I will show you some of those bits and pieces in Part Two. When it comes to mastering cooperation, Americans are starting from scratch. We are at risk of being left behind and declining as a society because our existing American social operating systems of competition and individualism are becoming increasingly incompatible with our high energy, high technology, interdependent, rapid information processing new civilization.
