As a primary teacher I understand how valuable a teacher’s time is. When I needed to learn about Asperger Syndrome (AS), I discovered that I would have to wade through many substantial books written from a parental or psychological perspective, not from a teacher’s point of view. After many hours of reading literature on Asperger Syndrome, talking with parents of children with as, discussions with professionals, experience as a classroom teacher and experience working with children with as, I have been encouraged to write this condensed book to help save teachers’ time.

The aim of the book is to provide you, the reader, with a summary of the information currently available on as that is relevant to teachers, and to provide you with a better understanding of your as students, quick tips and practical ideas that you can start using straight away in your class.

I hope that reading this gives you a good initial grounding and that you will be motivated to pursue further reading on the subject. At the end of the book there is a list of recommended reading and websites that highlight the sources I have found most useful. I hope you find this book valuable.
