Excerpt

Writing Family History Made Very Easy has emerged out of my years of teaching writing to family historians. Over the last decade I have facilitated family history writing groups and have taught lively students who have brought with them a diverse range of writing approaches. I have learned much from these students of life, writing and family history, and am grateful for their wisdom, their generosity of spirit and their willingness to share.

There is no doubt we find writing more difficult than we do the research task. Students have told me time and again about their frustrations with a writing and publishing process in family history that seems overwhelming to them.

This book is written to help family historians to write and write well. It is not possible, of course, to teach anyone to write overnight or indeed to do so in a few weeks. Learning to write is a process. Learning to write family history will take time.
