Having recently spent a year in North America I am now inclined to take some of the deschooling and freeschooling arguments more seriously than I did before. I am certainly not satisfied with the necessarily brief treatment given to the views of such men as Rousseau and Goodman in chapter two, and would draw the reader’s attention to my Radical Education (Martin Robertson and Co., 1978). I» that book I take a longer, more detailed look at the arguments of the radical tradition in education.
