In addition, the authors address popular culture influences on teens, technology and format issues, how to get teen input, where to find reliable review sources, programming with films, and promoting and merchandising your collection. Packed with ideas as well as nitty gritty information; this guide fills a gap in the literature and a real need for the profession.

Excerpt

We firmly believe that teens deserve equal access to library services, and that those services should be equal to those offered to other library customers. This series supports that belief. We are proud of our association with Libraries Unlimited, which continues to prove itself as the premier publisher of books to help library staff serve teens. This series has succeeded because our authors know the needs of those library employees who work with young adults. Without exception, they have written useful and practical handbooks for library staff. We’re glad to have these two new collaborators add their names to that list.

Just like books, movies provide teens with entertainment and can introduce them to a variety of issues and characters. People from every generation have all found movies that define who they are and current teens are no different. Teens love this visual medium, and we as librarians should take note. This book helps you, as a teen librarian, connect more closely with your audience. You will find great ideas on programming, collections, and issues in dealing with movies in a library that will support your current services.

We hope you find this book, as well as our entire series, to be informative, providing you with valuable ideas as you serve teens, and that . . .
