"DADDY" AND "PEACHES"

Carmel, New York, January 23,1927

That gallus old codger, "Daddy" Browning, and his flapper wife, the celebrated "Peaches," go to bat with their matrimonial pains and aches here tomorrow morning.

The veterans of the press benches of Somerville are massed behind their typewriters and telegraph keys nearly a hundred strong in this pastoral little town, and a pleasant time is anticipated by one and all when Daddy and Peaches start telling the low-down on each other.

Some say it will be very low-down.

The populace expects to hear more or less "dirt." It would be a terrible blow to the nation if this should turn out to be a dull narration of conjugal incompatibility without any paprika in it. You can hear those kickless stories anywhere.

If you have followed the public prints to any extent the past year, you know that Daddy Browning is Edward W. Browning, a New York real estate man of reputed wealth, and of at least fifty-one years of age, giving him plenty the best of it, who likes his girl friends young.

He is what you might call a "chick chaser." That, I believe, is the term for old guys who choose 'em very youthful. Old girls who like young men are called "veal hunters." Thus the English language is enriched every day.
