Anthony Munday's single original contribution to Elizabethan prose fiction appeared in 1580 with the following title page:

Chronologically it is the fifth or sixth of the Elizabethan novels, following Gascoigne The Adventures of Master F. J. (1573), Grange The Golden Aphroditis (1577), Lyly Euphues. The Anatomy of Wyt (1578), Gosson The Ephemerides of Phialo (1579), and probably also Lyly Euphues and His England (1580). . Never entered in the Stationers' Register,
