This book was designed to help bridge theoretical and practical information in the specific area of adolescent emotional and behavioral disorders.

This book's intended audience includes students preparing to become special education teachers, special and regular education teachers needing information about students in discord, and those who prepare and supervise these teachers. These professionals constitute a powerful group whose responsibility is to define, classify, and educate schoolchildren who have emotional and behavioral disorders. Other professionals, such as school psychologists, social workers, guidance counselors, and vocational counselors, as well as many others who work in public and private schools, clinics, detention centers, and assorted community agencies, may find this book helpful. Parents, too, may find that it contributes to a better understanding of their own youngsters.

The purpose of this book is to provide theoretical information, insights gained from actual cases of adolescents in discord, and some practical application.
