The National Debt Conclusion: Establishing the Debt Repayment Plan

Synopsis

The national debt burden reduces America's standard of living and constrains government's ability to deal effectively with problems at home and abroad. A political process unable to resolve the debt crisis is in dire need of structural reform and a rational initiative to reverse decades of federal fiscal profligacy. This work develops a practical plan for national debt retirement, which is sensitive to political considerations and economic realities. The author's plan finds support in past cases of successful debt retirement and by projections of imminent decline under the prevailing course of policy. This bold proposal should be of interest to scholars, policymakers, and citizens concerned with the federal debt.
