Excerpt

These brief chapters on one aspect of the Dead Sea Scrolls appeared originally as articles in the Irish Theological Quarterly under the title, The Dead Sea Scrolls and the New Testament. It is in the hope that they may be of interest to a wider public that they are now reproduced in book form, thanks to the initiative and kind co-operation of Messrs. Sheed and Ward, Inc.

The author's acknowledgments are also due to the Revd. Editors of the Irish Theological Quarterly, and to Messrs. Desclée and the Revd. G. Vermés, for permission to use material contained in Les Manuscrits du Désert de Juda (2nd ed., 1954).

Rome, 30th January, 1956.
