Excerpt

Sara Teasdale once said, in reference to her projected biography of Christina Rossetti, that writing about this English poet was like writing about "polished granite" because of her reticence and the uneventfulness of her outer life. Those to Vachel Lindsay, John Hall Wheelock, Margaret Conklin, and most of those to Williamina Parrish are no longer in existence. Dr.
