Excerpt

Get Away Old Man is an American play, and nothing else. It was conceived, written, and produced solely to entertain. All of its action is invented. All of its characters are imagined.

If any character in the play is based on any living person in the world, that person is myself. I don't know anybody else well enough to praise or criticize, celebrate or condemn, immortalize or damn.

The play was poorly received by the drama critics of the New York papers, and closed Saturday, December 4, after thirteen performances.
