The present work is an attempt to arrange the texts of the four evangelists in chronological order so that the reader may have a unified view of our Lord's life as recorded in the Gospels. Originally, my purpose was to present only the words of Christ that are found in the New Testament, but such a method would have resulted in a collection of sayings and would have failed to give a rounded and balanced portrait of our Redeemer. Ultimately I decided to group selected passages from the four evangelists into a chronological order so as to give a consecutive account of Christ's earthly life in the words of the Gospels themselves. Where more than one evangelist reports a certain incident the one best suited to the development of the narrative has been used.

In order to make the work as effective as possible, it was necessary to find the best possible modern English translation of the New Testament. After studying a number of modern translations, the Kleist-Lilly version, a new translation from the original Greek, was found to be best suited. Fathers Kleist and Lilly have succeeded in translating the New Testament in language contemporary man can understand.
