The author is deeply indebted to Thomas Nelson and Sons for the welcome opportunity which they have afforded him both to set forth the main reasons which led him to become a student of Christian Science and to outline some of its fundamental doctrines and practices. The performance of this task has brought with it constant unfoldment and inspiration, and it is hoped that these will be shared, in at least some degree, by the reader.

In no sense does this book purport to teach Christian Science, for in our church such official teaching is assigned to persons of wide and rich experience, expressly trained for this important work.

The essential source books of every Christian Scientist consist of the Bible, together with Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures and other writings of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science and Leader of this world-wide movement.

This volume may be considered as a brief introduction to Mrs. Eddy's writings and to the workings of the Church she founded; and as a personal witness to their value and effectiveness . . .
