Miss Phyllis Moir's book is charming, so interesting and such easy reading that I found to my regret that I was already more than half way through when I thought that I had only just commenced to read it.

The references to Winston Churchill brought back memories of schools where we were together, and many of which I had forgotten; but looking back I can realize that even then he had an extraordinary personality. At Harrow this was most noticeable. Out of some eight hundred boys there were probably very few who did not know of him, in spite of the fact that he was neither in his House eleven nor in the Upper school.

This was continued through life, as when during the Boer War the whole British Army in South Africa was acutely interested in his escape from the prison camp when he was a newspaper correspondent at the time.
