No Time for Tears


I was six years old when I made a discovery one day. It was a matter of great importance to me. I twisted my head around to look at Mama, who at the moment was soothingly attending carbuncle on my back. Papa had just lanced it with his jackknife. There wasn't a doctor within fifty miles of our Kansas homestead that winter of 1879.
