Architecture through the Ages

Excerpt

A new printing of Architecture Through the Ages has offered a welcome opportunity to make a number of corrections and modifications in order to increase its accuracy and its usefulness. In this revision I have been assisted by the willing cooperation of several specialists and scholars; to them I wish to express my deep gratitude. Especially I wish to express my thanks to Dr. Richard Ettinghausen, editor of Ars Islamica; to Dr. Julius Held, of Columbia University; to Dr. Emil Kaufmann; to Mr. Eric Mendelsohn; and to Mr. Myron Bement Smith, of the Library of Congress. Each has aided me enormously in his special field.
