One of the more crucial problems of our modern society is in the area of sex and love. Not only has the United States been stirred by the Kinsey Reports, by an increase in the output of near-pornography in magazines and movies, by a growing sexual precocity in the young, but England also has been preoccupied with the Wolfenden Report on homosexuality and prostitution, alarmed by a recent outbreak of brutal sex crimes, and interested in Eustace Chesser's studies of the sexual relationships of English women. Scandinavia is the focus of considerable attention with its legalized abortion for unwed mothers and state-supported institutions for illegitimate children. All over the world, family patterns are changing as women in the underdeveloped countries begin to demand equality and dignity.

The church has stepped up the tempo of its concern for family life.
