This volume was written at the suggestion of a number of non-Jewish friends. There are ministers, university professors, teachers and business-men among them, who are greatly disturbed by the rise of anti-Semitism, and who are afraid of its effects. They feel that the non-Jews of the land have a definite task to perform in this area of American life, and they desire, to use the expression of one of the business men, "to beat the anti-Semites to the draw." This can be done they believe, if the average Christian who wants to do the right thing in this matter can have the answers to the accusations and slanders of the anti-Semites and their often gullible followers. This does not mean to say however, that the American Jew must not do his part.

The way to scotch lies is to get the truth and tell it. Falsehoods that are not taken notice of and answered, are often accepted as truths by those who do not know. To know the truth, one must get information. For instance, one cannot deny the common statement that "there are no Jewish farmers," until one learns the facts about Jewish farmers. One cannot deny the common statement that "Jews control the press," unless one knows something about the press in the country. If one is told that Jews are generally dishonest in merchandising, one cannot deny it unless one has grounds for such denial. One need not believe it, but unfortunately many people who do not know Jews, do.

Misunderstandings about what Jews believe and about their attitude toward Christian beliefs have been circulated thru the medium of millions of hand-bills by anti-Semites. Good people have been misled by them, and have formed . . .
