Synopsis

This collection of encyclopedic entries provides a broad-based appreciation of new reproductive technologies that includes accessible technological descriptions and their historical and social contexts. The collection is divided into five thematic areas: Theories of Reproduction- Ancient to Contemporary; Early Reproductive Technologies; Post-War Developments in Conception Control; Advanced Infertility Techniques; and Reproductive Science and Genetic Engineering. The text is designed as a research tool focusing on reproductive technologies, new developments in the field, and their social implications.
