Excerpt

The study and report of which this book is the result were carried on by a special committee appointed by the American Neurological Association.

The report was presented to and approved by the American Neurological Association at its annual meeting in 1935. It had such an enthusiastic reception that it was felt advisable to publish it in a more permanent form and make it available to the general public.

Both the study and the publication were made possible by a grant of money given by the Carnegie Foundation to the New York Academy of Medicine for the general purposes of a study of legal medicine. At the request of the Academy, the Carnegie Foundation agreed that a portion of this grant should be used for this specific purpose. The committee therefore desires to express its sincere appreciation to both the New York Academy of Medicine and the Carnegie Foundation.
