Basing their work upon Mary Field Belenky's bestselling book Women's Ways of Knowing, the authors founded the Listening Partners project, designed to help young women isolated in rural poverty give voice to their personal and communal needs. A Tradition That Has No Name explores that project and the work of other women who have created organizations that strengthen traditions of community and are dedicated to social change.
