Synopsis

In response to the new Code of Ethics adopted in 1997 by the National Association of Social Workers, Frederic G. Reamer has written a completely updated edition of his classic work, exploring the implications of the new code for fulfilling social works enduring commitment to vulnerable and oppressed populations. Taking into account the expansion of the number of ethical guidelines (from 70 to 160), this second edition includes:
- A discussion of the conceptual foundations of each of six core values considered to be the basis of social work ethics;
- Additional material on confidentiality and privacy;
- Vignettes accompanying many of the codes guidelines, helping to explain in practical terms the reasoning behind each one;
