A new odyssey of learning has begun at NASA. To support the Agency's Education mission--to inspire the next generation of explorers--NASA is beginning its efforts to recruit and select K-12 educators to join NASA's Astronaut Corps and become the first class of Educator Astronauts. As pioneers for NASA and the education profession, these K-12 educators will help NASA to explore the bold frontiers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in ways never done before. The men and women selected for these unique positions will be a key element of NASA's direct connection to classrooms by sharing with their fellow educators and students the talents and disciplines necessary to make history, break barriers, and explore frontiers. Individuals selected to become Educator Astronauts will be eligible for multiple space flight opportunities during their service to NASA.

In addition to seeking the first corps of Educator Astronauts, NASA is also reaching out to find and engage those educators who want to utilize NASA's unique missions and resources and bring them into their classrooms. These educators are a foundation that NASA will seek to utilize in fulfilling its mission and commitment to the next generation of explorers. …
