Antenatal care is foremost among nations' public health priorities. It involves monitoring the well being of the mother as well as the unborn baby. Records of the Sudanese Ministry of

Health reveals that there are many places in Sudan that lack services particularly antenatal care. Hence, there are places where antenatal care is provided but the attendance is low. This increases the incidence of maternal mortality and morbidity.

The objectives of the present study were to identify the antenatal care services, the problems associated with low attendance to the antenatal care by pregnant women in different parts of AlAmir Locality and to make realistic recommendations for practical solutions.

The target group was 100 pregnant women and health workers in the different health centres (governmental and non governmental). Data collection was made through a questionnaire addressing the pregnant women. As well Structured interviews were conducted with the health workers and midwives in addition to personal observations. …
