I was working on the proof of one of my poems all the morning, and took out a comma. In the afternoon I put it back again.

Why would I open the editorial with a quote that highlights the difficulties and the time-consuming process involved in writing?

My objective is not to discourage anyone from writing a manuscript and submitting it for consideration to the Journal. My objective is rather to remind all of you, as you begin to read the various articles, how much work each author put into that article.

We all have the tendency as we are reading an article to become very critical and think: "I can do it, in fact I can write a better article." The truth is that most likely you are correct. You can write a manuscript, and perhaps even do a better job. The only difference between you and the published author is that he was willing to work on the proof all the morning. Take a comma out, and put it back in the afternoon. Are you willing to do that? If yes, 'just do it" (after all, it is the International Journal of Sports Marketing & Sponsorship) and I can promise you that sooner rather than later your work will be published.
