The study dealt with the use of gas in burning bricks instead of wood in Sudan. The eastern area of El Gireef was taken as an example. The data was collected through primary methods, that is the questionnaires and personal meetings, besides the secondary method of collecting data from books and records.

The study clarified that wood is the in, in source of burning power in the rural society in Sudan. Also brick industry needs a tremendous amount of wood as burning power. The quantity of wood used in Sudan is 184,000 tons, which is needed to make 2.8 billion bricks.

The cost of wood is high that it makes 25% of the cost of production. Here arises the thought of using gas for making bricks instead of wood.

The high density of the population in urban areas and the high consumption of wood caused destruction of forests.

The objectives of the study is to clarify:

1--The difference between the use of wood and gas in making bricks and its good effects on the production.

2--The cost of each way in burning.

3--The effects on health.

4--The standard of living for workers in both ways used in making bricks. …
