Welcome to the latest issue of the International Journal of Sports Marketing & Sponsorship. As you have no doubt noticed, there have been quite a few changes since last year, most notably that International Marketing Reports has taken over the role of publishing the Journal from Winthrop Publications.

The change of publisher is the reason behind the slight delay in getting this issue to you, and we would like to apologise for that. It is our intention to publish the usual four issues this year and to ensure that they are published on time in future.

For the time being we have no plans to make any major changes to the content or pricing structure of the Journal. We believe that the role it serves as a bridge between the academic and practitioner communities is vital and we intend to enhance that role. One aim we do have, however, is to make the Journal more global in outlook and in particular to have more input from continental Europe and Asia.

Some of the biggest changes that we have made, however, are to be seen on our website at www.imr-info.com, which we want to develop as a working tool for everyone associated with the Journal. On the website we have archived all past papers so that you can access information in the form of abstracts and executive summaries by key word search or by author. …
