ITI Partners Embrace: Check 21

Article excerpt

CHECK 21 MAY BE THE MOST RADICAL CHECK PROCESSING CHANGE since the introduction of MICR 40 years ago. Once in effect, it will drive home the importance of imaging technology, and the promise of new efficiencies for the nation's banks. Being prepared for future trends in electronic processing is vitally important, and having a Check 21 strategy is key.

Before the legislation was signed into law, RDSI Banking Systems, a financial data processing center in Defiance, Ohio, recognized its significance and worked to identify an effective Check 21 game plan for serving the many financial institutions they process.

"So we turned to our technology partner, Information Technology (ITI), to help us prepare our clients," says RDSI Senior Vice President Gary Saxman. "RDSI is committed to providing a 'competitive edge' to financial institutions in the markets they serve, and much of that edge comes from the technology we use. ITI provides us with integrated technology solutions, including imaging and document management, so it made sense to rely on their expertise."

Following a series of discussions and presentations, RDSI discovered that, with their technology from ITI, they had already laid the groundwork to be operationally prepared for Check 21. An essential component of document processing, and specifically Check 21, is item capture. ITI's Document Processing System (DPS) offers a complete range of document capture solutions. DPS manages rules and transaction codes, float, pocketing and exception management of captured documents--all in a MICR and image-enabled environment.
