Kansas City Highlights Including Arabia Steamboat Museum Sunday, April 3, 2005 1:00pm-5:00pm

A driving tour of downtown Kansas City, Missouri will acquaint you with the historic buildings, the new skyscrapers, the newly erected Federal Courthouse, and recently completed Government Square. The downtown area is becoming more popular with young professionals, as more condos and loft apartments spring up. A stop at Lewis and CLark Point offers a vista of the Missouri and Kansas Rivers and the magnificent new monument to the famous explorers and companions.

No tour of Kansas City would be complete without a glimpse of the world-renowned Country Club Plaza. This 14-block outdoor shopping center features more than 170 shops, boutiques, restaurants, Lounges, theaters, etc. Guests are sure to enjoy the beauty of the many fountains, imported statuary, and lovely Moorish architecture that grace the Plaza's tree-lined streets. The Plaza is truly the city's Crown Jewel.

Your featured stop will be at the unique and exciting Arabia Steamboat Museum. A "one-of-a-kind" museum, the Arabia will amaze you, beginning with the tales of its recovery and continuing with the unusual exhibits. The Arabia sank just north of Kansas City in 1856. Over 200 tons of the original cargo were recovered, and after hundreds of hours of restoration and preservations, many of the items are on display in the Museum. This collection of pre-Civil War artifacts is the Largest in the country.
