The first three correct solutions to our "Wellesley's Dog" puzzle were received as follows: 1. H. Clay Hawkins IV, president, Claremont Savings Bank, Claremont, N.H., 2. Daniel B. Theriault, IT manager/compliance officer, South Pointe Bank, Carbondale, Ill.; 3. Jason A. McGowan, credit analyst, Lakeland Bank, Montville, N.J. The correct solution is that Rusty covered ten miles.

We are quoting the response submitted by Vane Lucas, senior vice-president, Bank of Oklahoma: 1. After one hour, Baxter is two mites from the hotel and Wellesley starts walking after him; at that moment, they are two miles apart. 2. Wellesley walks two mph faster than Baxter, so it will take him one hour to catch up and overtake Baxter. 3. So Rusty runs 1 hour X 10 miles/hr. The answer is ten miles.
