I'VE BEEN PAINTING for over seventeen years. I started studying art after receiving a business and communications degree and while working professionally. I'm very committed to creating and have always made the time for and done artwork while working full-time, or almost so. I try to blur the line between "corporate" and "art" life and believe they inform and influence each other. I wish more people could, or would, enjoy that luxury. I'm interested in moving beyond the rectangle with my paintings and often break up space with lines that evolve and dissolve and wander off the edges. I also play with movement. I wonder if people feel that when they look at them. There have been few reports of motion sickness. Recently, I started focusing on photographs as much to keep clean and avoid fumes as to draw upon the more spontaneous and observer aspects of the medium. As you might suspect, similar themes emerge--form, dramatic shape, strong color, line, movement--as those in my paintings. However, the photographic images tend to be more buoyant and playful than the paintings. Maybe I should qualify that. I believe at least that may be true for the viewer. …
