The author describes her approach to feminism and activism in both alternative and public schools. She addresses a number of issues. including sexualities and violence against women. (MW)

L'auteure propose que l'absence de sensibilisation quant a une perspective historique chez les jeunes lemmes contribue a leur resistance au feminisme. Elle suggere qu'une lecture du Deuxieme sexe de Simone de Beauvoir redressera cette ignorance. Elle recommande, tout particulierement, le chapitre consacre a l'histoire qui illumine l'oppression des femmes sous le joug d'un systeme patriarcal. (Resume de la redaction)

Cottrell, Barbara. "Working with Research Ethics: The Role of Advisory Committees in Community-Based Research." Atlantis, vol. 25, no. 2 (Spring/Summer 2001), pp.22-30.

Using personal examples, this paper suggests that the university ethics process is neither appropriate nor desirable for most community based research and outlines an alternative of informal ethics reviews conducted by community advisory committees. (Journal abstract)

This article argues that the presentation of performances of queerness on The Jerry Springer Show can be a form of resistance and a strategy of subversion by making public mockery of the moral framework of heteronormativity. (MW)
