Why Volunteer with ACEI?

This month, I decided to focus on a general need that many volunteer organizations face: how to attract more volunteers. All nonprofit and professional organizations exist due to volunteer efforts, and my personal experience indicates there is a continual need for people to help in all volunteer capacities. People do have very good reasons not to volunteer, but some reasons are not quite as valid. The secret is to provide more good reasons for volunteering than there are for not getting involved.

Volunteering to be on an ACEI committee does have its rewards. You receive at least as much as you put forth. Below are some of my ideas concerning why it is beneficial for YOU to volunteer to join, or continue your membership on, an ACEI committee:

1. Just like Uncle Sam used to say, ACEI needs YOU! We cannot do it without you!

2. The best people are ACEI members

3. The committees give you something to do in the months between conferences

4. The committee meetings give you some thing to do during conference evenings

5. Volunteering looks great on your vita

6. You are known by the company you keep

7. You can bring fresh ideas to the table
