Letter from the Editor/Lettre Du Directeur De la Revue

Article excerpt

May 2005

This special issue of the Canadian Journal of Regional science deals with one of the themes that has been central to the Journal since its beginning, i.e. patterns of regional development and their policy implications.

This special issue is comprised of a collection of articles that deal with various aspects of regional development in British Columbia. Important empirical as well as conceptual contributions are made, particularly in the convincing suggestions for a more nuanced conceptual framework for understanding and analyzing regional development patterns in the province.

The guest editor, Professor David Edgington, in the Department of Geography at the University of British Columbia, has brought together a group of authors whose collective observations and analyses will have an impact beyond the boundaries of British Columbia and indeed Canada. His research program has also contributed financial support to the publication of this special issue, which is most appreciated.
