Rojann Alpers, PhD, RN, associate professor at the Arizona State University College of Nursing, Phoenix, has been named director of the new Office for International Nursing and Healthcare.
The Institute of Medicine and the National Academy of Sciences have presented the Gustav O. Lienhard Award for the Advancement of Personal Health Services to Kathryn E. Barnard, PhD, RN, FAAN, Charles and Gerda Spence Endowed Professor in Nursing at the University of Washington and director of the Center for Infant Mental Health and Development. She is the fourth nurse to receive this award in its 17-year history.
Roberta Cavendish, PhD, RN, CPN, is coordinator of a new bachelor's degree program for associate degree and diploma-prepared RNs at the New York City College of Technology (CityTech) in Brooklyn. Dr. Cavendish comes to City Tech from the College of Staten Island, where she developed the master's degree program in adult health nursing.
Marylin J. Dodd, PhD, RN, FAAN, professor, associate dean of academic affairs, and the Sharon A. Lamb Endowed Chair in Nursing at the University of California, received the 2005 Baxter International Foundation's Episteme Award in recognition of her research and practice relieving the side effects of cancer treatment. …
