Dr. Jay Fagan, Fathering's current Editor, has announced his resignation effective at the end of the present volume (Volume 4). During the past four years, Dr. Fagan was responsible for launching Fathering during what most would agree was one of the most contentious and competitive periods in the academic journal arena. Dr. Fagan's noteworthy reputation within the fatherhood research community, his marshalling a stellar board of editors, and his conscientious managerial style ensured that Fathering has become a recognized venue for both scholarly theoretical and practical fathering research. As Dr. Fagan leaves his general editorial and shepherding duties behind, he plans to direct more of his energies toward his teaching and research interests.

Although Dr. Fagan's presence at Fathering's helm will be sorely missed, we are pleased to announce that Dr. Joseph Pleck, Professor of Human Development and Family Studies, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, will be taking over the general editorial duties with Volume 5 (2007). Dr. Pleck brings to this position a wealth of publishing experience with six books and over 110 journal articles and book chapters to his credit.

Dr. Pleck's current research includes his work with the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development's Transition to Fatherhood Research Network, collaborating with researchers at five other institutions. …
