Sometime the oldest lines are the truest lines. Getting better at one's profession is especially critical to the banking industry. As competition grows, regulation increases, and new technologies demand new investment, we need smart, knowledgeable people to help us navigate the changes. Educating and training our industry's workforce has never been more important.

The good news is that you're not alone in making sure your employees have access to quality training. ABA takes its responsibility to train and educate the industry's employees seriously. Through the association's Professional Development Group, ABA provides an extensive array of products and services that can help any banker at any level obtain the education and training he or she requires. This includes professional education and training programs that can lead to diplomas, certificates, and a dozen professional certifications.

Besides a variety of magazines, newsletters, journals, and specialized publications, ABA also offers resident schools, intensive weeklong customized training programs provided in the bank, "train-the-trainer" programs, instructor-led and self-paced e-learning, custom training, conferences, seminars, workshops, web and telephone briefings, management simulations, and more.

Many bankers know about the American Institute of Banking, which has been the industry training leader for more than a century. Today's AIB offers the same high-quality education in an online format more suited to today's busy employees. Courses run from the fundamentals, like AIB Principles of Banking, to higher-level courses for senior executives, such as Analyzing Bank Performance. There are more than 30 online courses to choose from. All are facilitated by an instructor who provides feedback on assignments and is available to answer students' questions. …
