ISGS Goes on Line

Article excerpt

ISGS has begun operating its own computer bulletin board system, sometimes called a BBS. The following may answer some of your questions about this form o electronic communication.

What does a computer bulletin board do?

A computer bulletin board allows you to use your computer to communicate electronically in real time with a remote computer, in this case a computer at the ISGS office in California. You can exchange electronic messages and compute files.

How can I reach the ISGS computer bulletin board?

Using your computer modem and communications program, dial (510) 798 2076. Follow the instructions that appear on your screen. The system will ask first-time callers to decide on a password, and to fill out a short questionnaire. (Remember your password for future contacts with the board.)

What do I do next?

Next, explore the various menu options. You can read bulletins which tell you about the system, and about ISGS. You can view and/or download from a small selection of articles originally published in ETC. We will put more articles in this "electronic library" as time permits.

What else does the BBS do? …
