[I.Sup.3] Completes Final Phase of Field Testing

Article excerpt

Invention, Innovation, & Inquiry (I3) has recently completed all field testing. This project, funded by the National Science Foundation and directed by the International Technology Education Association, is now in the final phase of producing units intended to develop technological literacy in students in Grades 5 and 6. Each unit has been pilot- and field-tested by over 20 teachers in different states. Beginning in September 2006, all ten 13 units will be available for purchase through ITEA. 3. Communication: Communicating School Spirit: Students examine communication processes and mediums by designing, developing, and implementing different types of commercial projects promoting school spirit.

4. Manufacturing: The Fudgeville Crisis: Students explore food preservation and packaging as their companies mass-produce and package "fudge" for a Fudge Festival. …
