This issue of the New Zealand Journal of Psychology is the first one produced during my term of office as Editor. I feel honored to have been nominated for this role. NZJP has been a valuable resource for my own learning and professional development, and I am privileged to have the opportunity to contribute to its operation.

The articles featured in this July issue were submitted and reviewed during Mike O'Driscoll's term as Editor. As Mike was responsible for coordination and editorial work for these manuscripts, I would like to acknowledge this contribution and express my thanks. I am also indebted to Mike for kindly offering to support me during the transition, both in a formal capacity as Associate Editor through 2007, but also informally as guide and mentor.

NZJP developed in several positive ways during the time that Mike O'Driscoll was Editor, and the publication is running very effectively with its current policy and procedures. Therefore, as I hope to convey in this editorial, my intention is to serve as Editor in a manner that facilitates 'business as usual' for the Journal.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank those individuals who have graciously agreed to continue their contributions and support of the Journal. Special thanks are extended to the Associate Editors who will continue from 2007 onwards--Neville Blampied (University of Canterbury) and Janet Leathern (Massey University, Wellington). …
