Supplement to a Checklist of English Translations of M.M. Bakhtin and His Circle

Article excerpt

When I prepared the original checklist, "Bakhtin and His Circle," which appeared in the previous bibliographical issue of Style (27.4, Winter 1993: 515-20), I neglected to consult The Bakhtin Newsletter (also titled Le Bulletine Bakhtine), an invaluable publication issued irregularly from the French Department of Queen's University (Kingston, Ontario), where its general editor, Clive Thomson, has taught (interested readers should note that Professor Thomson has recently moved to the University of Western Ontario, Department of French, in London, Ontario). Studies in Soviet Literature 12 (1976): 27-39. Rpt. Semiotics and Structuralism. Ed. Henryk Baran. White Plains, NY: International Arts and Sciences Press, 1976. 284-96. Trans. Patricia Sollner: "Rabelais and Gogol: The Art of Discourse and the Popular Culture of Laughter." Mississippi Review 33 (1983): 34-50.

Further in Part 2, add to the entry for 1965 (p. …
